Dear readers, We are back with the latest news about the Transport Research Knowledge Centre (TRKC). The TRKC is a free database featuring up-to-date information on European transport research activities. It enables policy makers, researchers and other stakeholders to access results of EU or nationally financed transport research in the European Research Area (ERA). In this bulletin, we report on the following issues:
Enjoy reading! NEWSNew Policy Brochure on Traffic Management for Land Transport published
This Policy Brochure addresses the role of traffic management, which can be defined as making more effective use of existing infrastructure, for road and rail transport. It considers the need for traffic management from efficiency, environmental and safety standpoints, the role of data and information systems, new technologies, the evidence on their performance and limitations, and the implications for future policy. The Policy Brochure on Traffic Management for Land Transport is available for download in the 'Publications' section of the TRKC portal. Thematic Research Summary on Transport Management publishedThis paper covers the management of traffic and transport services for all modes, including changing the way in which existing transport systems are used and the strategic and tactical control of traffic. Visit us at the 16th ITS World Congress in Stockholm!TRKC will be present at the 16th ITS World Congress in Stockholm (Sweden), from the 21st to the 25th of September. The congress will be running in conjunction with the exhibition that will open its doors on the 22nd of September. You can find our TRKC stand in the European Commission's exhibition space. The ITS World Congress and Exhibition 2009 creates an international meeting point for companies and public authorities involved in ITS. This allows the participants to widen their views and generate better knowledge about how mutual research and development of intelligent transport systems and mobile services can make our daily life easier and better.
