Dear readers, We are back with the latest news about the Transport Research Knowledge Centre (TRKC). The TRKC is a free database featuring up-to-date information on European transport research activities. It enables policy makers, researchers and other stakeholders to access results of EU or nationally financed transport research in the European Research Area (ERA). NEWSTRKC publishes new Thematic Research Summary on Regional and Rural TransportA new Thematic Research Summary (TRS) on Regional and Rural Transport is now available for download from the publications section of the Transport Research Knowledge Centre (TRKC). The new paper covers two separate but related themes:

A new Thematic Research Summary on 'User Aspects' is also now availableThis theme covers 'User Aspects' of transport and the ways through which users interact with transport systems, infrastructure and services for all modes. The theme's scope is technical and behaviourist, using these levers to enhance mobility and journey quality in the EU. The new Thematic Research Summary covers the results of projects ranging from the Human Machine Interface, to User Behaviour and its impact on transport infrastructure, to issues of Comfort and Safety, not forgetting influencing users towards greener and more efficient means of transport. New FP7 project profiles online2DECIDE - Toolkit for sustainable decision making in ITS deploymentIn order to utilise the benefits that Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) can provide in terms of a sustainable European transport system, the most urgent problem to be solved is slow and uncoordinated decision making for deployment of ITS at the urban, regional and national level. The European Union's ITS Action Plan (published in December 2008) identifies the need for a European ITS Decision-Support Toolkit to assist stakeholders involved in deployment. 2DECIDE addresses this important challenge by developing an easy to access (single entry), consistent (linked to all necessary data sources and processed to one information source), up-to-date (maintained) toolkit for decision making for ITS applications. The toolkit developed by 2DECIDE aims to meet the needs of stakeholders and provide the user with:
