Key Developments in the Port and Maritime Sector

6th GNSS Vulnerabilities and Solutions Conference

Baška, Krk Island, Croatia, 21-05-2012 to 24-05-2012

The Royal Institute of Navigation, London, UK, the Nottingham Geospatial Institute, University of Nottingham, UK, and the Faculty of Maritime Studies, University of Rijeka, Croatia, organize the 6th GNSS Vulnerabilities and Solutions 2012 Conference to be held on 21 - 24 May, 2012 in Baška, Krk Island, Croatia.

This traditional world-wide event aims to gather GNSS experts and focuses on GNSS risks and vulnerabilities, as well as to developments aiming to improve the accuracy and reliability of GNSS.
The list of keynote speakers include representatives of GNSS operators, space weather experts, academia and industry.

International Conference on Research in Air Transportation

The International Conference on Research in Air Transportation (ICRAT) will be held 22-25 May in Berkeley, CA, USA. Now in its 5th edition, ICRAT has established itself as the key biennial event in Air Transport Research, alternating with the USA/Europe ATM R&D Seminar.
ICRAT is an excellent forum for young researchers within air transportation to share their work, expand their professional network, and gain new knowledge and inspiration.
ICRAT 2012 is organized by the FAA and EUROCONTROL. Other co-sponsors include NASA and JPDO.

TransportNET Course on Port Economics and Business

Antwerp, Belgium, 23-05-2012 to 25-05-2012

The course will be held at the University of Antwerp and is open to academic researchers (students, researchers, PhD students) and professionals (from industry and public authorities) from all kinds of backgrounds, research fields and interests, holding a Master's degree or equivalent. The aim of the course is to provide participants advanced training in port economics, business and management, and have them obtain improved skills and knowledge to advance their careers.

Core topics of the course are:

  • The evolution of a seaport’s role and network function and strategies of related actors
  • Trade developments and forecasting
  • Green innovation initiatives in seaports
  • Port concession and organization
  • Port financing and public-private financing

16th Int. Forum on Advanced Microsystems for Automotive Applications (AMAA 2012), Berlin, 30-31 May 2012

In 2012 this annual international conference is held under the motto “Smart Systems for Safe, Sustainable and Networked Vehicles”. The focus is on application fields such as electrification, power train and vehicle efficiency, safety and driver assistance, networked vehicles, as well as components and systems.

The ambitious objectives of future road mobility, i.e. fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and zero accidents, imply a paradigm shift in the concept of the car regarding its architecture, materials, and propulsion technology, and require an intelligent integration into the systems of transportation and power. ICT, components and smart systems have been essential for a multitude of recent innovations, and are expected to be key enabling technologies for the changes ahead, both inside the vehicle and at its interfaces for the exchange of data and power with the outside world.
