Background & policy context

IERSET was a co-operative research institute created by companies and research centres to develop research and activities around one theme: communication systems and on-board systems for different means of transport.

In 2006, IERSET merged with an association called ADERMIP. The result is a new structure called AMPERE (Association for the Management of Research and Studies Projects). which does not focus on transport research but has a global approach by helping projects and organising partnerships into different sectors: health, transport, industry, etc.

In 2006, IERSET merged with the “Association for the Development of economic Research” (ADERMIP) to AMPERE (Association for the Management of Research and Studies Projects).

Strategic Objectives

The objectives and missions of the IERSET were the following:

• Identify research subjects
• Construct co-operative projects and ensure their management
• Gather test tools of industrials and skills of researchers to optimise their use and minimise costs of projects.
• Enhance co-operation between industrials and research centres
• Make access to research projects possible for small and medium companies through partnerships with large companies and research centres.

Programme organisation

IERSET focused mainly on on-board electronic systems and communication systems in transport, and more specifically on the conception and integration of electronic systems for transport in vehicles and user environments:

• compatibility of electro-magnetic systems and equipment,
• electric networks and power equipment, .
• on-board software,
• human-machine interface, driver, pilot or operator behaviour.
